I work out of the Christian Direction office in Montreal with a wonderful group of people doing great things for the Kingdom, especially in the francophone world. This morning a group of ten left for Haiti, please read below for more details- And PLEASE keep them in your prayer this week.

The project Paraclete of Christian Direction (a ministry based in Montréal) consists in sending a team of ten people with different backgrounds in pastoral counselling and psychology for one week to Haiti following the January earthquake. The Paraclete team will be seeking to meet spiritual and pastoral needs of those who are grieving and have been traumatized. They hope to train 200 pastoral helpers in grief counselling and spiritual accompaniment in Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haitian and Limbé. These trained people will hopefully be able to meet some of the needs of 5,000 Haitians in mourning through counselling and support groups.  Pray for the safety and health of the team members as they travel, train and visit local hospitals and clinics. Pray for Pam, José, Jacynthe, Josiane, Cheryl, Daniel, Félix, Ron, George-Marie and Richard.

Even in Montreal, on the opposite end of the country, we're feeling the hype for the upcoming 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. From my perspective, I've watched how this has brought our nation together to prepare for the world to arrive in our country. I've especially seen this in the church, which is amazing, how the church in Vancouver and Canada is working together to serve and welcome all to British Columbia and PRAY a lot as the nations arrive.

For those who are interested in coming to Vancouver to pray during the Olympics, there is a great opportunity for you to do so at the International Prayer Centre on Keats Island.

They Write, "We invite intercessors throughout the world to come to Vancouver area during the Winter Olympics (Feb 12-28) to join in prayer for God's purposes during this critical time. Come for any portion of this time period as we intercede for this strategic gateway city, its call to the nations, and the specific opportunities for outreach that the Church in Vancouver region is rising up to meet" -More Than Gold website

For most of us in Canada, today was a pretty normal Wednesday.... except for those who have family or friends in Haiti. Yesterday Haiti (population of around 9 million) was hit by what they’re calling one of, if not the worst natural disaster to hit the Western Hemisphere.

I encourage you to read these bits of article and quotes below and pray through what’s happening in Haiti today. We want to stand with them in prayer through this VERY difficult time.

Haitian President René Préval issued an urgent appeal for his earthquake-shattered nation Wednesday, saying he had been stepping over dead bodies and hearing the cries of those trapped under the rubble of the national Parliament.

Préval, in his first interview since the earthquake, said the country was destroyed and he believed there were thousands of people dead but was reluctant to provide a number.

``We have to do an evaluation,'' Préval said, describing the scene as ``unimaginable.''

``Parliament has collapsed. The tax office has collapsed. Schools have collapsed. Hospitals have collapsed,'' he said. ``There are a lot of schools that have a lot of dead people in them.''

The U.N. said casualties were ``vast'' but impossible to calculate.

The International Red Cross said a third of...
