92 Fellowship Baptist Churches Committed to a Year of Prayer

Brian Stewart contacted me in mid 2010 sharing his hope and dream to see the Fellowship Baptist denomination across Canada commit to a year of non-stop prayer. So just as Unite Canada 2010 was ending, the Fellowship Baptists carried the baton into 2011. Brian recently told me that there are now 92 churches in Canada committed to at least 1 week of prayer this year. This is AMAZING!!

This morning a read an article by Wanda Clay about 24-7 Prayer that I wanted to share with you. She attends Faith Baptist Church in Great Village, NS. Since God laid this idea of 24-7 Prayer on her pastors heart, it has been fire-catching. The prayer team has been fasting and praying for God’s spirit to move in the congregation and community.

This is what Wanda wrote…. May it encourage you in your own church context.

The bible says “If My people, will humble themselves, pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land.” (2 Chron 7:14).

A fire has been caught in churches all around the globe and it’s called 24/7 Prayer. God is planting a fire of prayer in the hearts of His people because though God can do whatever He wants, He has chosen to work through the prayers of people. God’s desire is to pour out forgiveness through His Son, to change lives through His Holy Spirit, and empower His people to become fearless, faithful followers who love the Lord Jesus Christ with passion and share His vision of hope for a fallen world.

Dr A. T. Pierson once said, ‘There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.’ The question is:

Do we really believe that a movement of God’s Spirit is needed?

As we look around the world at tragedies like Japan, the turmoil in the Middle East, poverty in Africa, persecution of Christians all over, and the turning from God in this generation, we should agree that we need a movement of God’s Spirit. As we look closer to home, at crumbling marriages, hurting families, addictions and suicide in our youth, cancer and serious illness, broken hearts and broken lives, we should agree that we need a movement of God’s Spirit.

So what are we willing to do about it?

If every spiritual awakening that has ever happened began with united prayer-then we need to pray!!!! We need to do what we can do, so God will do what only He can do.

The 24/7 prayer movement is changing how Christians view and do prayer. Prayer rooms have been created in everything from church halls to U-hauls.

They are not boring and dull, they are creative and beautiful, designed to be interactive with God. They are about expressing your heart to God through creative means like art and music; they are about learning to talk to God like He

Is your best friend; they are about leaving behind the noise of the world, entering into the presence of the Living God and resting there with Him for a while.

Every church that has a 24/7 prayer room has experienced God’s presence there in a supernatural way. What started as a week commitment often went several weeks or months because the fire was caught. Many have experienced miracles and physical healings. All have experienced a change in the hearts of their people.

We have the opportunity to experience the same movement of God at FBC.

We are creating a prayer room in the preteen girls classroom and we will start 24/7 prayer on Sunday, April 10th at 1pm and finish on Sunday April 17th, at 10am. Sign-up will begin on Sunday, March 27th. We know this sounds like a huge challenge but this is our suggestion. If possible, sign up for an hour time slot within the first 48 hours and get a taste for what it’s all about. Think creatively! Moms bring your kids-they can draw a picture for Jesus and hang it on the wall; come as a couple, as a family, as friends. We will provide the means, God will provide His Spirit and we guarantee that an hour will feel like 10 minutes, and have you coming back for more. You can sign up for as many hours as you like after that. If you are a night owl, sign up for a night slot or two. God blesses when we sacrifice for Him. (We will have security in the building so you are not alone.)

Please don’t miss this opportunity God is giving us. We so need Him, let’s show Him how much!
